Thanks. This has been driving me nuts. It's not really a temperamental system, it's just that it's not setup correctly by dealers. I was just handed a SIM card without the above pdf. Which was never going to work....

Hi all, invaluable forum already, ive got a v90 and similar to others the dealer didnt put the sim in, 10 days later ive been sent a sim and after about an hour (and the pdf mentioned in this thread) i have now successully Have got a globe on the screen, linked my phone to the car by wifi and registered the vodafone sim card....brilliant...or so i thought
I now have the globe in the top corner but i have zero connection, no data, nothing works internet wise. (I have tried switching to using my phone as a hot spot, it all springs to life saying i have connection and updates to download etc but if i flick back to in car modem....nothing! Anyone got any ideas please ? I am at the end of my tether! Sorry bad joke |

I had same. Nothing works until you go through the registration on the web page on your phone.
I had a set of instructions the dealer gave me but not sure where they are right now. If someone else can’t recall the process then speak to your dealer again.

I understand if you don't use Spotify or anything else which consumes lots of data, that average data usage is around 0.6GB per month.
I use a USB Memory Stick loaded up with all my favourite music so how easy is the 24Gb 24month EE 'Data Only' SIM Card to get going? This is the one purchased from Amazon for circa £45 Last edited by Begonia; Sep 24th, 2020 at 14:34. |

Update, ive now got reception and its sprung to life with pretty much just turning it on and off again
Must admit i am slightly disappointed, not sure what i expected perhaps a choice of loads of apps etc but oh well Now onto the fact i cant seem to find android auto and the car wont recognise a phone connected via usb...apparently i can play video on a sensus if connected by usb I do love this car though |

Just into my Email Inbox:
Vodafone Internet in the Car Dear Customer, Just to let you know your Internet in the Car plan will end in 30 Days. To keep going please click here to log into your account and choose your plan. To make it easier for you to continue using the Internet in the Car, you can select “Buy Subscription” which will allow you to continue paying for the data plan until you choose to stop. Thank you, Vodafone Hmmm? Is it best to wait until this SIM card stops working, do you think, before inserting my new 24GB 24 month EE SIM card? What's the best way to change over from one SIM card (Vodafone) to another (EE)? |

I looked at the data plans on offer, there is nothing that is suitable for the small amount of data I used over the year. I'm going to try tethering to my phone to use its data SIM.

I decided to swap the second SIM I use for phone data into the car to save tethering every time I use the car. Should be easy...
Only, after taking the SIM card panel off, the handle at the end of the SIM card holder I was expecting to see wasn't there. I thought perhaps I'd mis-remembered the shape as the salesman fitted it for me. I could see the end of the SIM card itself, so tried to push it, thinking it must be spring loaded as there was nothing to hold onto. That didn't work, so I got some tweezers, pulled it out and it dropped into the gap behind the carpet. I did try and retrieve it but without any success. I see there is a thread here about what trim need to be removed to find them. However as the housing was broken missing its end and the SIM card isn't active, I'm going to leave it where ever it dropped. I now need to get another SIM card holder from Volvo. I did try tethering to the phone, seem fine however I'm not sure if I need to turn it on everytime I connect the phone. |

Asked the dealer about a replacement SIM Card carrier today. Readily available, but for £51, I think I'll have a look under the carpet for the remnants of the old cars. Not impressed as I'm sure I didn't break it.

Thank you so much for this. We took delivery of a lease XC60 and it hadn’t been set up at all.
I seem to have problems with the On-Call App intermittently, are there any resolutions that you could offer me for this at all? Sometimes it is just completely unresponsive and comes up with “Could not lock your Volvo” Thank you so much for your help. Have always thought about using Forums but this is the first time I have actually used one and it’s really helped. :-) |
