Similar but different

My previous daily driver was a Saab 9-5 Aero with ignition key in the middle by the gear shifter.

Now I have the Volvo for longer journeys with key in the "normal" place but Mrs W has a little Smart Cabrio that I take down the shops etc - with the key by the shifter again.

I am ALWAYS getting it wrong with the key in the wrong hand...

Cheers

Dave

I find that I have to do it this way or at the very least, if I go straight to park, I have to then go back to neutral to take the load off, if I don't, starting can be impeded, you can feel the load being released when you go back to neutral, well, I can with mine, more so because I have a small tyre groove in my gravel where I park up, and if I don't wait for the car to rock back to center in the groove, it will put load on if its caught in forward or even reverse... I suppose its much worse when on a hill....

I'm even worse... My jag is keyless with electronic handbrake and the twisty knob selector. I've tried to do all kinds of combinations of the two in both cars
