Default Video playback

Has anybody successfully got the sensus system to playback video as described in the manual?

I’ve plugged a hard drive in with a few different formats and nothing is being recognised.

I've successfully played video files.

Supported formats and associated file extensions are:
  • MP4
    .mp4, .m4v
  • MPEG-PS
    .mpg, .mp2, .mpeg, .m1v
  • AVI
    .avi
  • AVI (DivX)
    .avi, .divx
  • ASF
    .asf, .wmv
  • MKV
  • .mkv
However, all of these file are really 'containers' which hold the video, audio, subtitle and other data as separate streams. So although a file may have an extension that is supported, one or more of the individual streams within it may be unsupported. In other words, just because a file has a supported extension it doesn't mean that it can be played. This is true of all devices, not just Sensus.

The settings that work well for me within Sensus are:
  • resolution: max 720p
  • refresh rate: 25 or 30 Hz
  • container: mp4
  • video encoder: H.264 (x.264)
  • audio codec: AAC
  • file size: max 2GB (or maybe 4GB, can't remember)

Use the free PC video converter 'Handbrake' to convert non-conformant files to a supported format.

Note also that not all hard drives will function with Sensus. SSDs or memory sticks work best.
