Cool

advisory on mot;

slight oil leak (turbo return pipe seal needs doing and oil cap seal, pennies to do)

slight deterioration of rubber shocker bushes. rear again, coppas to do

back seats down..so i could get my bike in and pedal back home after dropping off my car at the mot station. very expensive and time consuming job to do.

mot 28th nov 2012

put to shame by other s70`s on here cos the outer rear axle bushes have been replaced £100 the pair from ebay.

so, cos of the massive jobs especially the back seats needing put in the upright position... ive decided to sell spares or repair.

£1250 ovno spares or repair. !!

please dont email all at once and flooding my computer with emails and crashing it.

first come llast served...rubber cheques accepted

Just curious Lmason,how did you change your rear bushes? Genuine question,I'm not taking the mickey.I am asking because I done mine and although it wasn't that difficult,If there was an easier way I would like to know.
Thanks.

the rear outer bushes..
with difficulty.
it took a full day to get each side replaced.

had to drill the rubber and with prizing with a crow bar etc, loosing skin off my knuckles etc.

ohh forgot...had to grind the bolt out, one snaped inside which took me the longest time to remove, cos you cant get in with a punch and hammer, so had to use some engineering skills, made myself a mini press where i toghtened bolts either side to prize out the snapped bolt.

how did you do yours? theres only one way of doing it as far as i know.

I used a blowlamp to gently melt the plastic that holds the rear bush in the delta arm and levered it out with a big screwdriver. I tried not to heat the arm too much,just enough to set the plastic bush on fire and releasing the hold on the bush. I have read of a few people doing it this way and it took me about 2 hours for the one side. Maybe I was lucky?

I am saying I did it,My uncle did it and I helped by getting in the way.I have since done the other side myself,using the same method and again it took about 2 hours. It is not a nice job for an amateur.

Cool

before removing the bush, the bolt has to come out. mine was a stud type bolt and had to gring the top off then push the bolt through the hole. the second one snapped so caused me more problems and delay.
found the first one i did came out no bother really.
with my jack not being a high one, couldnt even get underneath with a hammer and punch to push it through, so had to faff on with 2 pieces of angle iron and bolts with another bolt in the middle of my home made press to push the snapped bolt out.

when i snapped it, id wished id got the garage to do it, but when i succeeded, felt alot happier with satisfaction that i did it.
some may come out easy, especially if the have been done before, but mine were the original ones with the stud type bolt, had to mode the brake pipes also so i wouldnt cut through them with my angle grinder.

eventually got there after spending mos of the weekend sat and sunday doing the bushes, and front brake hose. but got it done in time for the retest on the monday, i guess i was under a bit pressure cos i didnt want the 10 days to expire for retest. and onece id started the job, had to finish it.

also, had to get replacement nuts and bolts, luckily i had some spare front bush wishbone bolts which fit ok to put the rear bush on the rear axle.

I think you're being a bit harsh on it, calling it spares or repair with that short list of faults, unless I'm missing something. Just clearly list the problems and sell it as-in, I'd say. Spares or repair sounds like an MOT failure to me.

cheers

James

foggyjames;

ive lost all hope selling it on here.
most the buyers are from south of the uk and very few up here.

the advisdory was;
slight oil leak (turbo return oil seal)
shocker rubbers rear slightly deteriorated (i think, havent got the advisory infront of me)

cosmetic jobs;
drivers electric window bank of switches
hole in carpet at front
wheels would benefit from refurb

and i think the oil filler cap seal will need changing, cos i havent done it

thats all i know of and what was pointed out at the mot.

the jobs done for the mot;
adjust handbrake
front brake hose ns replaced.
part worn tyres fitted
rear outer axle bushes renewed

and of course the scratches some one put on the rear quarters with a key or something

and thats it. its on ebay for £1250 ono. but will listen to serious offers when being viewed.
