Default Fault codes on 2004 V50

I'm having problems with my '05 V50 1.8 Petrol

It's burning excess oil, and I believe it is running rich

It's reporting 2 fault codes:
-P2008 | I think this is to do with the Swirl Control Solenoids
-P0400 | This appears to be the EGR valve

If anyone could shed any light on these issues, or know of how to sort them out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Default Fault code P0400

See you have the same issue as me, V50 petrol on 06 plate, burning oil with a fault code of P0400, think this points to E.G.R . Does anyone know anything about this, had this on going issue for a year now, please correct me but i thought egr's were fitted to diesel's and not petrol's. If a E.G.R is fitted can anyone point me where it is located, would i also be correct in saying that the engine fitted is made by Ford. My Management comes on at anytime, can be a 10 mile run or sometimes it lights up after 800 miles, local mechanic can't find anything wrong. Need help on this one???
