Default Driver's side CV Shjaft

Hi All, Having trouble getting the correct replacement CV shaft for my 2.0 Automatic. Vida gives the part number as 8251528. Using this AND the Vin number, my supplier J&R, who specialise in CVs and Drive shafts sent me a unit. When I tried to fit it, it was 100mm too long. The discrepancy in dimensions is caused by the fact that the support bearing that is carried in the outer detachable cradle is 10mm further outwards in tyhe assembly. Also the diff unit end of the splined shaft appears to have a different lubrication pathway. Has anyone else jhad this or similar problem? Is there some significant change to the Aisin auto transmission that was introduced to the last batch of production models? My Vida insists that the correct pt np for the whole cv axle is 8251258, but there is insufficient detail in the illustration to confirm the actual spline and shaft details. All other components appear to be the same. Is there a subtle difference between LHD and RHD models that the parts suppliers are unaware of? Anyadvice apprecioated. I cannot afford to buy a genuine Volvo part, as i'm sure manu other S40 owners are. Unable to upload pics unfortunately. Any ideas anybody? PS Managed to upload pics

I would just go and get a vital part like this from the dealer ...

Just an update. After much searching into why there was a discrepancy between driveshafts, even though I had quoted chapter and verse, I uncovered the following. Most sites just list "automatic" as an alternative to the manual box on a Phase 2 S40. Hoever this is highly questionable as I found out that OEM suppliers in fact manufacture and market 2 types of driveshaft for the 2.0 litre Phase 2 S40 Automatic. Aisin Warner supplied two versions of this gearbox, and there is definitely a difference in driveshaft length between them. In addition, Phase1.5 models could have either box fitted. So a tip for any other S40 automatic owner with the AW55-50SN gearbox wishing to fit a replacement driver's side driveshaft, insist that your supplier is offering the version that is 946mm long, and not 950. Similarly, the nearside drive shaft should be 592mm long. Both these are suitable for the AW 55-50SN 5 speed intelligent autobox fitted to many S40 Autos. This is indicated in the VIN number where the ninth number indicates the type of gearbox fitted. 5=Manual, 6-= Auto AW50-42, 9 = Auto AW55-50SN. Hope this will help S40 Auto owners to get the right replacement part withoiut all the hassle, or having to pay Main Dealer (Stealer) prices.
