Default Brakes again small mod this time - no cost!!!

Hi all
I have recently replaced the front brakes cos they were totally shot.
I noted that when taking the old discs off the mill scale had cut through the shield at the back weakining it severely, so I removed them from both sides.
I have noticed that under continous heavy braking that they have improved slightly and they don't blue out any wher near as much.
This obviously has to do with the improved airflow to both sides of the disc. Now you will be asking what about the stones and water that fly up that these shields help tp reduce. Well myself and Warthog are going to test them over the next 6 months into the rough weather and see what happens. My rally car never had them and suffered no probs as a result. In fact stones were never trapped.
Anybody have any thoughts.
Oh and it takes only 10 minutes to remove them - take caliper & disc off and it is 3 M6 bolts (10mm spanner)easy to do.

Cheers
Andy

I drilled my discs when I replaced them recently to give them that 'performance' look!
