Weight of a Volvo 740 Gle

Just wondered if anyone knows what a 740 gle weighs!? I'm thinking about scrapping as it's on it's last legs and wondered if I will get anything back. But don't worry I'm buying another Volvo instead!

740 models are in the region of 1270 to 1460 kilos (kerb weight).

Have a look at the vehicle type designation plate in the engine bay. It should be the weight shown just below the VIN number on the plate.

The leather is looking very worn and it's light brown

For what it's worth, old Volvos don't last long in my nearest scrap yard / breakers as they weigh more than most vehicles and as such are sent to the crusher once they have been picked over for a couple of weeks. Other more popular makes are left untill nothing of value is left before being sent to the crusher.

Depending where you are you should get a fair sum, the closer to liverpool docks the more money as that is where the scrap is exported to china. Birmingham is £60 a ton, my skiphire friend weighs in alot of waste steel. They knock money off for tyres though.

Speaking of tyres has yours got a decent set of alloys?

I got £41 for it! and the battery was just a few months old and the tyres were new on when i get the car 7 months ago! Shame really but it was on it's last legs.
