Smartphone satnav?
I have a Lumia 635 smartphone running Windows 8.1. Whenever I get into my 64 plate V40, the car automatically searches for my phone (I paired them when I got the car), and starts playing my music collection via Bluetooth. It will also override that if I make or receive a call, which is all done via the car's screen. My question is, can the car also recognise the Windows 'here' satnav on my phone, and display the map on its screen? Currently, if I use 'here' in the car, I have to turn off the entertainment system altogether, else the car mutes the verbal satnav directions on the phone.
The technology is out there - before going for the V40, I looked at a Skoda, which did use the Windows smartphone 'here' satnav as its own satnav, which I thought rather neat. It would be nice if the V40 could do the same, but I cannot see a way of making this happen. Last edited by conedia; Sep 22nd, 2015 at 12:21. |

So no, it's not possible - but sadly the Sensus Connect on the V40 also doesn't supply Android Auto or CarPlay. You'd need the big tablet screen in the XC90 for that! |

No but if I launch Maps on my iPhone the voice directions play through the car speakers which comes in useful when youve parked up somewhere only to realise you are a actually still a few streets away from where you need to be.
Not sure if it does the same on Android, but I thought the sensus connect software was more compatible with Android than iOS. |

Many thanks to both of you for the info. I will see if I can get the verbal directions on my phone's satnav to play through the car's speakers. Re the Skoda, it definitely was the Windows OS that was the first to be implemented (for whatever reason), with Android and iOS coming along later at some point.
I do have an Android tablet with a satnav app on it, but Tickedon confirms that the Sensus Connect on the V40 won't recognise that either. It would be nice if Volvo could offer an update on that - I'm sure that this is purely a software issue and nothing else. Last edited by conedia; Sep 24th, 2015 at 08:05. |

My Lumia 1020 plays Here maps directions through my bluetooth headset and through my stereo through the aux port using a cable. Unfortunately no bluetooth in my car.
See no reason why it should not play through yours. As said above there is no equivalent to Android Car for Windows phone as far as I know.
