Default Driveshaft for 1.6 d2 s40?

Hi guys

Looking some help and advice. The passenger side driveshaft is away in my wife's car. The Volvo code is p31259517 and apparently 36002896 is the same shaft.

I am really struggling to get one anywhere other than Volvo. Volvo are looking £361 for the shaft. The wife is thinking of changing the car so really don't want to be putting £361 into a driveshaft. It seems the inner cv joint is gone but I can't get one of those either.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to get this or where to get mine reconditioned? If anyone has had theirs reconditioned roughly how much did it cost?

The part from Volvo is a reconditioned part also so they want the old one back also.

Really stuck so any help and advice will be greatly received.

Cheers Keith

Try http://www.caarparts.co.uk/transmiss...009/Parts.aspx

I got a C70 one from here a while ago. There is an exchange deposit but I didn't bother returning mine as postage was more than the deposit.

Yeah I tried them but when I rang they don't have them in stock. Found out no one seems to have it in stock only available for reconditioning my own.

Luckily I found one listed in Ebay today so I've it ordered. Hopefully it will be ok when it arrives.

Cheers Keith

Interesting, I just tried to find one and failed through most places I usually use. It's very unusual for these parts not to be readily available.

Found these:

£153 here.

and

£223 here

Hope your ebay one is good.

Yeah my parts guy is brilliant and would bend over backwards to try to get me a part even crossing part into different part numbers to try to get a match but couldn't get one.

I found it listed on 3 uk websites in stock but when I rang they didn't have them and couldn't get them. Think the car will be getting changed soon so as long as the one from eBay works I will be happy.

Cheers for taking the time to look

Maybe there's a lot of these failing?

Mine had one done under warranty at the 50k service. Must say I noticed nothing before and no difference after!
