Default V50 tailgate won't open

Hi I'm new here and a lady so go easy on me ! I have seen various threads on this problem so I maybe writing this all wrong in the wrong place!
I have recently purchased 07 V50 at first the boot wood click open after being shut when engine started then it wouldn't open but heard the clicks when unlocked so I used the interior light double clicked and it opened ... Now it's completely dead when I use the fob to unlock or in the car ( the boot never unlocked from the button on both key fobs). So after much research I've cleaned and sprayed connections in handle checked the rubber I case it's pinched, used foil in switch (lol) and I've even tried a hair pin and tried to short the wires to open boot ... Got a spark but didn't open boot argh!!!! So I fitted new microswitch today and still dead... My baby's pushchair is in the boot of which it's a heavy old thing too. I have booked the car in with Volvo next week but I'm so worried it's going to cost a fortune ... Any ideas ????? Thx

Could it be the solenoid that operates the latch has failed?
Not sure what you mean about using the interior light.

Another thing, the car could be set so that one press of the unlock button opens the drivers door, a second press of the button then unlocks the rest of the doors and the boot. It can be set to do all doors and the boot with one press of the unlock button. These are in the menu settings on the radio panel. Just a thought to rule it out.

Might be the wiring harness that has got a break in it. I had the same symptoms in my s40 wiring loom from volvo main dealer was under £30.00.

V50 are not prone for wiring faults, i had one today no access to tail gate ..i opened via interior by removing interior panel found problem to be actual tail gate lock..s/f new lock now cured fault..
