Default '06 V50 "Premium" sound system dead

Hi all, Merry Weekend,

Just got back from a trip in the V50.
Had the radio on all the way there, was out of the car for a few hours, then headed home. Radio worked fine initially then as well.
Stopped for fuel after 10 mins or so and since then I have been unable to get the radio/CD player on.

Upon pressing the volume it displays "Volvo Premium Sound System" or whatever it is, alongside the pretty little picture of the car. Then.....nothing.
Goes back to the empty screen.
The rest of the display works fine (A/C, menu's, tuning options), just can't get it to fire up.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Does anyone know a likely cause.
I suspect it may well be dead, but could just be a fuse.
I'll have a poke around tomorrow.

Any help appreciated.

Just checked it 2 1/2 hours after returning.

For no readily available reason, the radio and CD player work fine.

Disaster averted......for now.....

Have had this happen to me twice before, no idea what caused it but hasn't happened again since thankfully!

Hi
Worth checking your battery or alternator or battery connections. Always happened to me during the winter on my old battery.
If the radio is on during starting and the battery voltage drops below a certain level the radio " drops off " the data system. I used to have to stop the engine, leave electrics off for a couple of minutes, ignition on and the radio would restart, switch radio off, then restart engine. The radio would work again once the engine was running and the battery voltage was up again. New battery has solved the problem with me. So worth checking battery connections, battery or alternator. Or remember to switch off the radio every time you stop the engine and only switch it on again once the engine is running and the battery voltage is up again.

You will also find that the reversing sensors don't work either, so try and remember that when it happens . I occasionally get this on my v50, and find it will work after locking the car again and letting it go into deadlock . I've put it down to the relay not kicking in....

Same here, happened to me 3 times over last year. No cure found, just revert back after few hrs of parking. Seem to happen mostly/only to cars with better audio systems what makes me think its related to amp/woofer or something.
Just another gremlin inside my car I have to live with

Maybe nothing connected but my radio did this a few days before my alternator packed up...

I think it was a coincidence, tbh. My alternator and battery are apx 1 year old and this still have happened ocasionally, sometimes straight after long highway run so full charge etc.
I stand by gremlins
