Default 960 Shifter Light

Hi All:

I have a 97 960 Wagon and I need to replace my shifter light so I can see what gear I am in at night. Does anyone have a link to show how this is done? I have removed a lot of the center console but I am afraid of breaking something by prying to hard. Thanks in advance!!

I replaced the indicator light recently so I hope I can descibe the process. Just underneath the emergency brake handle thre is a panel cover that can be removed by sliding it back and lifting it out. There are two screws underneath this panel that you'll need to remove. Next push the console panel towards the dashboard while pulling it out from the console storage box. The you'll need to place the shifter in neutral or drive so you can lift up the console cover. Next disconnect the tranny select switch and then you can pull the console cover over to the right to access the bulb underneath the shift indicator. You'll probably need pliers to pull the bulb from the socket and to insert a new one. I manged to use my hands though.

Good Luck,
