'05 54 plate S40 Aircon pipe sheared?
Hi all, just new here so go easy....
Last week my wife was driving our S40 when she heard a clunk and a metallic clinking noise. She parked up then called the AA to assess the problem as there were no warning lights lit on the dash. The AA guy identified the problem as being the aircon pipe having sheared just as it connects to the compressor. Instead of securing the dangling pipe, he decided to hack at the rubber hose that connects to the steel pipe. After taking it to an aircon specialist today, I am now facing a £350 bill for two pipes instead of one, a regas and labour. I will be pursuing the AA for compensation for the actions of their mechanic causing more damage than was necessary. I am just looking for people's opinions on my situation before I go to town on the AA. Is this a common problem with Volvo aircon systems, as Volvo seem to be out of supply of these pipes until 26/6/12. There seems to be a big demand for them. They do have the rubber hose in stock as they don't have to replace them very often, it would seem. Thanks. |

My pipe that sheared though was an aluminium pipe.
