Question 940 oil filter change

I want to change the oil filter on my 1994 940gle fitted with the B230FT engine but it looks very inaccessible down there below the turbo. Any advice as to the best route to get at it would be appreciated.

Hi access is from below. While in the area, check the water pipes to the oil cooler mounted ahead of the oil filt. They can get oil damaged ( squishy) and be brittle ( can crack / split)

Thumbs up Good point

Absolutely right Ivor - I had a mysterious leak that dumped about 2 litres of coolant on the floor after an hour's motorway run. It didn't leak much for another week (about 1/2 litre a day).

Only found the leak when I went to change the oil filter and nudged the coolant pipes - squeezing them allowed the coolant to pour out again. They're not too expensive to change if they are soft and/or oil covered so it'd be wise to change them when you have the opportunity, rather than when you have to!

Default 940 oil filter change

Hi, I place the front wheels on 3" high wooden blocks. This gives just enough access to get under with a belt wrench and drip tray.
I am not surprised the water pipes harden as they get covered with oil when the filter is unscrewed. Mine appear Ok at the moment.
