Default '06 V50 1.8 Petrol High Mileage?

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks to users on here who have helped with advice over the past few years (I have a low number of posts under another username but couldn't log in & the captcha refuses to recognise my answers - re-registering was easier!)

I currently have an 06 S40SE 2.0d which is a great car and has served me well for the past couple of years apart from a persistent draining battery - probably in part to the lowish number of miles I do in her (currently only about 5k pa!).

Because of this and the awkward boot and relatively small rear passenger space I've been eyeing up petrol V50s and seen an '06 one in good nick local to me.

However, it's got 120k miles on the clock. I know my diesel will keep going for well over 200k if it has to, but petrols don't live anywhere near as long. Am I likely to get a good few years out of it? What is a rough estimate for the life of the engine (obvs depending on motorway or not, etc)

Am I right in thinking this is a mazda engine made for ford - in which case it should have a fair bit of life left?

Any other pitfalls particular to the petrol V50 than a diesel S40?

Thanks in advance.

I hear it's a pretty robust engine by all accounts. To be honest, if it's been well maintained, there's no reason why it shouldn't give you good service. I was running Sierra's well into the high 100's because of good regular servicing. I can't see it being an issue.

I hope they will run well into the 100's! I hope to keep mine for as long as possible.

Mine now has 121K on the clock (had 118K when I bought it) and it's running perfectly
