The one on mine is very very soft (but not split), will replace it this afternoon as I had a sudden loss of power and much black smoke, it wont boost at all now and is making a funny 'flapping' noise, if that makes sense!

The turbo has not much play in the shaft so will report back if it cures the problem!

I've finally got round to fitting my new pipe.

OMG!! That breather pipe was very stiff.. I put a slit in the old pipe to get it out but I had to remove the breather pipe itself so I just had the plastic end and bath the whole pipe in WD40 and press like f*ck to get the plastic bit back into the new pipe!

Once it was in though easy job there-after.

The car feels much more punchy and I feel better knowing that I haven't got a mushy pipe right next to my Turbo

Took mine to have a BSR remap today. Put the map on, on the test drive the guy from the garage booted it hard, it pulled really hard for a few secs then suddenly a noise like something tearing and then power no more than normal.

Back in the garage and suprise suprise my turbo inlet pipe has a massive split in it. No warning lights flashed up and no loss of power or limp mode.
I have only had the car since Oct so am guessing that it has been weak all along and the extra turbo spin has finished the pipe off.
I thought this would need changing soon as it has 79k on the clock.

Should get it back tomorrow morning will report back.
Glad that I had the BSR fitted at a garage rather than do it myself

I would say yes, even if you could get an aftermarket one it wouldn`t fit properly and wouldn`t last as long. Buy cheap pay twice!

sorry to bring this issue back up but i got my inlet turbo pipe changed after having the boost loss and the problem does seem alot better but i cannot still put my foot to the floor quickly without the boost cutting out, i can do it slowly and no issues. has anybody got any ideas.

Boost Control Solenoid.
Clipped to the air filter case if it's the same as the petrol five cylinder turbos.
Forty something quid from a dealer of eighty quid for the aftermarket (allegedly better) IPD one from partsforvolvos.
One electrical connector and three rubber pipes.
They all come off and refit by hand (just be sure to keep the colour coding blobs of paint matched)
Easy-peasy two minute job

Yes they do, on the XC0, it's clipped to the front of the air filter box - there is also a 2nd solenoid/actuator just above the starter motor.
