Default Very Little niggles

Well after a few days ownership and a couple of hundred miles under it I am pretty impressed with the new V70
Smooth and a hell of a lot cheaper to run than the 940.

The only two issues are:-

1.Useless headlights. If Volvo are about safety, surely this should have been a major recall. I will be looking into further trying to improve them cheaply.

2. A slight squeak coming from the clutch when changing gear and sometimes setting off.
I probably am being fussy about the squeak which will probably be eliminated with a squirt of oil or grease on the actuator arm. Or maybe the clutch release bearing is dry (which will probably ease with use) hopefully.

All in all very pleased so far.

You can get the original lights from PFV or if your thinking long term keeping the car get the projector lights and hid bulbs its like night and day in comparison

I fitted mine 3 yrs ago best mod I ever made

Yes the headlights are not too good as the reflective coating wears away, either buy new standard headlamps (which improved mine a lot) or as Thanatos says the projector jobbies.

I have the answer!

Well after some more serious investigation I can confirm the squeak is coming from the DMF.
Very very ocassionally their is a noise like a noisy release bearing when setting off.
Also if you listen carefully whilst driving in gear their is a noticeable small squeak when the accelerator is released and again when reapplied.
These are definite signs of the springs and mechanism inside the DMF being underlubricated/worn.
The car drives perfectly and the gears change smoothly with no judder so it is not a desperate required repair.
I have a friend with a subaru legacy which does the exact same and has done so for the last 45,000 miles.

PS
Sorry for the double post as the reply was relevant to both threads.

Or a cheaper alternative is to buy some chrome paint, disassemble the glass from the unit, rub down the areas of chrome, mask the area and repaint.
