This is the thread I started.. .FYI

It is very likely the torque converter (TQC) - I loaded up the TCM in Vida and had a friend read it off while driving, and the shudder only occurs when the TQC is in "slip" mode. When the SL solenoid is around 600mA. The shudder does not occur when the TQC is fully locked or fully unlocked. I added ShudderFixx and there was no change. There are no codes outside the regular audio system\bulbs\tire sensors stuff. I flushed the trans a year\10,000 miles ago.

Another posted this :

"I have a 2007 XC90 3.2L 6-cyl with 120K miles. I haven't checked the serial number on the trans. yet to see if I have model that has the valve body that tends to fail, but I bought the car in Jan. 2007, so I probably have an early model for that year that does have the "bad" valve body."

I have 2007 XC90 how do I check which serial number are effected anyone know?

So, to the person who knows no different, they think they don’t need to change the fluid because they don’t do any towing for example. Volvo have never offered me a gearbox service either. It isn’t part of their maintenance schedule.

Changing the fluid is a no brainer in my opinion. Fluids need to be changed at some point in time to prolong longevity.
As you say kev, best to get it changed regardless if it's used for towing or not, when I did my v70 earlier this year the oil was definitely not factory fresh after 110000 miles and with a towbar already fitted to the v70 when I bought it I use it to pull a trailer quite often and I didn't know what the past owner/owners were towing with it, so in my mind it was a no brainer to change the fluid and will continue to every year, the fluids not that expensive and its worth it in my mind.

Default Gearbox oil for 2011 S80

Hi
new to these forums so thanks in advance for any info.

Have studied some threads re the correct gearbox oil for my 2011 S80 D5 geartronic, but, am still a little wary of which spec oil to use.

The car is reg AW61 AYW and VIn YV1AS8250C1153762.

The supplying dealer quotes the following oil, part no.31256774, but, I cannot find what spec this is.

I am aware of two specs...3309 or 3324 oil for this car, but cannot find which of these oils my car would require as its build date falls at the point where the oil required changed, from 3309 to 3324.

I usually use a local specialist oil supplier for my oils, Smith & Allan of Darlington, and would like to quote them the correct info for them to supply the oil...does anyone know the answer.

Thanks

My Volvo Owners Manual hand book recommends AW1 gearbox oil for all models with an exception being the 2.5FT and 2.5T Models theses use JWS3309. My car is a 2011 s80 D5 205 hp model with Polestar update

When it comes to auto gearbox fluid stop posting questions on forums and simply call volvo. Give them the car Rev and they will confirm which fluid it should have.

Depending on model year. Older cars take JWS3309, not the AW1/JWS3324 fluid.

Yours takes the newer spec fluid because its a 2011.
