Hi XC90,

As apersson says, I wouldn't be adding in 4c or anything, I'd just be transferring the compatible parts over. They are same model year etc, so there shouldn't even be any subtle differences between the two in that respect, and so anything electrical will plug into my existing looms and modules. The only modules I'd swap would be ECM / TCM as they always stay with the engine / box.

I would likely take the opportunity to replace my 4c shocks and springs with some other low mileage ones, as the donor car doesn't have 4c and so I can't make use of them, but that's a side issue.

I don't intend to replace belts (just been done, and part of reason to do this now as it saves an expensive job due on mine), oil is recent and won't need to be drained, transmission fluid is still within service life so I wouldn't change yet (and again it won't need to be drained), power steering system should transfer over without disturbance. Brakes will need to be bled and cooling system may need to be topped up, although I'd hope not drained entirely.

The £1000 was my estimate of an extra cost. So that's over & above the cost of getting the bits changed that I need done imminently on my car. But that's just finger in wind at this stage.

No, I wouldn't let a dealership do it either

Volvo has frequently done changes also mid-term. Thus the wiring diagrams for many cars have two editions for each model year, early and late. Changeover somewhere around week 20 or so.
So make sure they haven't done some update to whatever you want to transfer, before you start doing it, just to realize it's no longer compatible.
