Default Gearbox

Does anybody know if all tf80sc gearboxes are all the same or do you have to match other numbers on the box to find the correct 1 for the vehicle i think my gearbox is on its way out

Can't answer your main question as I've never heard of one needing changing.
They're generally robust but do show poor gear change symptoms on older fluid.

Why do you think your gearbox is dead and what's the fluid change history including the fluid's current condition?

I have just bought the car but it was a cat n write off so no service history with it as the insurance companys tend not to return them with the car i have only owned it a month i haven't been able to check the fluid current condition yet i was just going off stories i have read on the internet with similar symptoms when the car is cold its perfect smooth changes up all the gears after about 20 mins of driving it seems to rev really high before actually engaging gears then about a day ago it started to have have a fit of erratic gear changes and also as i tried to do a 3 point turn put it in reverse reversed and as i put it into drive to pull away there was a huge bang as though the gearbox had jumped out of the car it was that bad. when i looked on the internet i have seen lots of stories of the boxes so automatically put it down to the gearbox on the way out i did not relise that the tf80sc was a better box than others

The TF80 is reasonably robust, although not infallible. Its worth doing a proper fluid flush and having a software adaption done on the box.

The enforced software adaptation clears the currently adaptation values, forcing the gearbox to learn the adaptations afresh.

Adaptations compensate for clutch wear and slippage, altering the pressures on the various hydraulic valves as required.

The adaptations change slowly over time as components wear and must be reset should any major components - such as a valve body - be replaced.

@Mcgoo1
Change the fluid, reset the counter, reset the adaptions.
There's plenty of positive accounts which show how that might be all that's required.

Yes. I sell tested and guaranteed working Dice @£135 delivered too if you don't have your own setup.

I've hooked up loads of member's cars for free too so a friendly local member may even do it free or modest beer tokens if that's your only need for diagnostics.
