Exclamation Water on Inside of Rear Window

So I have searched the forums, but I am unable to find exactly the same issue that I have.
Every so often, when its raining or been raining, I get a small amount of water running down the inside of the tailgate window and it appears to be coming from behind the high level rear brake light. The head lining is not wet and its literally a dribble that leaves a trail down the tailgate window on either side of the High level brake light. I have looked but for the life of me i cannot see how its getting in. I had thought that as it does not happen every time it rains, that it could be coming in from the glass seal at the top above the brake light.

Has anyone else heard of this issue?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Check for blocked drain holes. Open the tailgate and look along the top of the opening to see if you've got water sitting there.

Otherwise check the bonding seal along the top of the glass on the outside. Get a hose and pour water along it for a good few minutes and see if anything runs down the inside of the window. A little bit of mastic/silicone sealant will sort it.

The trim is actually very easy to remove if you want to see better on the inside.

If you look on my profile you'll find an album called "tailgate trim" which shows where lots of the clips are. The process I used was to find and undo all the torx screws, couple near/at the handle, one on each side near bottom corners of window. Then it's just a case of gentle tugging to free the clips. I took the trim off all as one piece, starting at the bottom near the lock. But you could try just doing the top surround. It was 6 years ago I did it, so I can't remember which piece laps over the other etc.!

I removed the tailgate trim to install the tailgate remote close module from Evgeny. It is all too easy to break these plastic clips so the best course of action is to buy half a dozen or so replacement clips to put in place of any you break I suppose if you take off this trim repeatedly you would learn how to avoid breaking clips but since you are only going to do it once in all probability, I'm afraid that you are going to break some of them.
