Centre console partially inoperative
HI all,
My 2008 V70 D5 has a problem that's slightly weird. Firstly, the climate control/heater/blower/air-con/recirculation and heated windscreen switches switches are all dead. Nothing works, no AC indicators light up, no fans heard running; nothing. Further up the console, the CD/Radio is only partially functional. I can select CD or radio and load discs and play them, but only control the volume, radio station tuning and volume from the steering wheel. At first I thought it was some device to stop children from fiddling with the centre console controls, but now I'm not so sure. The confusing thing is there seems to be a common fault between two different circuits here and the only thing they have in common is their physical proximity to each other on the centre console. I'm not even sure which fuses to check but I suspect it's something not so simple. Any ideas? |

Centre console / Air con / stereo control fault V70 Mk3
I had a similar issue on my 2008 mk3 V70.
The air con / heater / heated seat control started to work intermittently, then packed in completely. Buttons & temp control display lit up as though should work, but no response of fans or heated seats. I bought a used heater control & stereo panel from eBay (£200!) Was surprisingly really easy to fit (following some you tube instructions 'Volvo XC70 V70 S80 Center Console Update', needed to tell you how to get electrical connections off). Air con worked fine then (but the little buttons below for BLIS, collision alarm, parking sensors, etc were different to my car, so no longer work) BUT, when I tuned the stereo on, the one on the replacement panel I fitted turned on for ~5 seconds, then kept switching off Took it all apart again, turns out the stereo control but is a separate unit that simply screws on to the panel, so I unscrewed my old one, and fitted that. All working well now for 7months or so. Doesn't sound quite like your issue, but I thought I'd share this as may be of use to others. |
