Default Cost to replace clutch?

I might have buggered my clutch at the weekend when I changed gear. I basically put the car into the wrong gear in high rev's causing the clutch to slip. Nasty clutch burning smell.... and stupid mistake as I never realised for a few seconds... d'oh

Well the smell has pretty much gone and the car still feels fine i.e. no clutch issues. Though I figure it might not be a bad idea to change the clutch. Any ideas of cost to do such a job, parts + labour. Also cost from a dealer compared to an indy?

Heading towards a grand from a main dealer I would guess, they have to drop the engine to do it.

If it aint broke dont fix it. Hopfully the worst you have done is taken a few thousand miles off the life of the clutch.

The clutch on my v70 was replaced recently at a cost of £750 at a Volvo Main dealer. They wanted nearer £1000 initially, but I managed to negotiate them down fairly easily. This price was only slightly more than Mr Clutch wanted !

Unfortunately they seem to have damaged the drive shaft oil seals, but thats another issue.
