Scratched cupholder lid (centre console)
My cupholder lid between the two front seats is badly scratched (the black rubberised surface doesn't seem very durable).
As this is a very early example of the s60 I don't want to spend money on replacing the entire centre console (which is likely to scratch again anyway) - has any one tried to repair the scratched rubberised surface themselves or at least make it look better? I'm not sure how to go about doing it although I have thought about using some fine sand paper to scratch the whole cup holder lid evenly! Has anyone e.g. tried spray painting the surface? Thanks. |

You could take it to a vehicle graphic company and get them to wrap it in something more interesting ie silver or similar.

I got some dash board shine spray as I accidentally scratched mine when vacuuming it. It looked so bad I was going to get a new one but I tried the spray and its worked quite nicely. You can only just see the scratches now so definately worth a try

scratched lid fix
go to a computer graphics/sign shop , get A4 size cut out sheet in black/ grey/ or carbon effect ,take off lid ,cut to shape ,stick down carefully ,stand back and admire ! . mines in carbon effect (and only cost a fiver for 2 sheets).

I have done both. The cover is painted and the panel piece (it was cracked) surrounding the gear shift is stick on. Both done professionally. IMHO, the painted cover looks more authentic than the stick on which looks really good afar but you can tell that it is not genuine.

Here we go
Got the adhesive carbon this morning and had a go at sticking it on. Quite pleased with the results! have a look.
Pen holder may have been a step too far but probably won't last for long anyway as it's stuck on rubber! Tim. |
