Default one & bought myself a new grille for my V50

I have a 2007 V50 SE Sport & the grille is the chrome one & I do not like it.

I like the Heico black mesh grille but wont stump the £350 for it from Heico Sportiv

I found one in USA thats identical but has no badge so I ordered that which came to £56 inc p&p. Today I have ordered a Heico front grille badge from a Heico supplier in Germany, that came to 28 euros delivered.

Here is the grille that I have bought

I will let you know how I get on fitting it & get before & after pics

One question I do have....I believe I have to take off the front bumper to change the grille, will this in anyway cause the airbags to activate?

Dave

Good luck with this grille Dave, I also ordered this from Dubstop off of ebay and unfortunately the grille was so poorly made it had fallen apart in the box!...The mesh was basically 'botched' to the grille frame with some form of glue which hadn't bonded properly as the plastic hadn't been prepared (roughened up) and the glue therefore coudln't adhere to it!!!.....hope your grille is made better than this??....might be worth checking how well the mesh is attached before fixing to your car!!??

There is a way to fit the grille without removing the bumper and it is described by Jonnie2009 in a different older thread about grilles...

Hope this helps

Oh no Higgy, that is the web store I bought the grille from DubStore

I will check it out fully.

I'll search the forum for Jonnies thread...I think I was told sometime ago that 2006 below models you can change the grille without removing the bumper but mine 2007, you need to remove the bumper...I'll soon find out. If the grille is of poor quality then I'll just ship it back

It's called "new V50 grille" and is back on page 6.

I too bought a grille off ebay like this a while ago but in Chrome. I already mentioned it in another post but the quality was poor, like Higgy said, the mesh was bonded to the chrome surround. Not only that but after a week the chrome had loads of small chips in it so not a good purchase.

If you are going to want something that lists then you will have to stump out for it or consider adapting your old grille - paint and mesh?

I changed the grill on my '05 V50 to the S40 grill as it was a lot cheaper than the Heico ones.
I changed the grill without taking the bumper off by using a paint scraper to fit between the grill and bumper to prise the clips off. It took a bit of time and fiddling but was a lot quicker than taking the bumper off.
Once the old grill is out the new one just pushes in and locks in place.

cool, so long as the new grille is of good enough quality then I will be attempting this poss next week so long as I dont have to take the bumper off, if I have to take the bumper off then I'll do that in a few weeks

Rustydonkey, where did you source your genuine S40 grille as I am also wanting to do the very same thing to my 2005 V50?

Cheers,

Gary

Have you got a picture of it aswell Rusty?

If mine is of poor quality it wont be going on my car so will look for alternatives.

I've been after an S40 grille for about two months now and can't find one anywhere....I've posted requests on all the parts/salvage sites and returned a big fat zero!!!....They seem to be as rare as rocking horse s**t for some reason....???

Anyone else had problems getting one?

How much are they do buy new from Volvo?
