Yes very easy-

You send me £350.00 (what I paid for it) I send the tuner to you..

If it works you have the correct ECU!!

Deal?

Haha feel free to send and cheque will be in the post honest..

I'm sure there must be a way to get into the diagnostics to check ecu model number so will keep looking around...
I'm going to ring DTE/dtuk next week to see if they have an eta on a box, I'm on the list to contact o ce they have one but could be any time. All depends on demand so if we all ring up enquiring for the D5 engines they might get on with it!.
Tdi tuning did have one put pulled it due to issues apparently.

Well yes a remap is always preferable and I have had both over the years. The latest 3 channel boxes are pretty good though and the dtuk box I had on my 340i really made it fly, there was a dyno day at Surrey RR and those with various boxes did get some very impressive figures.

Also let's not forget this is from the company who is selling the remap in a box. ( who I will be contacting as well!)

I have personally remapped a VEA engine using RICA, however....

you need to physically remove the ECU but not open it, unlocks using their unlocking mo bob tool.

each MY seems to introduce new hurdles, personally I'm learning more towards polestar for newer cars, or even VEA engines in general, its easer, keeps with software updates, avoids possible issues with mismatched software versions if you simply reload your map after a software update... Its not as powerful, but I've gotten to the point simplicity is nice.

RICA's seem to do the entire VEA range but MY18 and below currently, you can do that at home too, they send you the equipment and you have to return them.

I’ve only tried 2 boxes in the past. both caused issues after a few thousand miles and one rinsed through fuel at an alarming rate. They’ve always been the easier/cheaper option to a remap - not at the prices they are charging now though!!

I’d never heard of SA Tuning until a week or so ago when a another tuning company Rabbid/the tuning society posted the anti-tuning box video. It has now gone viral (in the world of car tuning at least).

I don’t care where my remap comes from, handy that these guys offer a device to load/remove it yourself. They are only re-sellers for this other company DImsport, again who I’d never heard of. After a bit of investigation it seems every single remapping company on earth uses either hardware or software made by them.

I don’t know that much technically about it all but every forum on every car ever made has a tuning box thread where they are eventually exposed as junk.

Yes you can sell the box on eBay when you change your car but the mapping tool is yours for life. Buy a new car and (currently) its £110.00 for a new map.

All of this is a crock of sh*t though cause the poxy thing can’t do my car (for the time being at least)!!

Yes - I’m still very gutted. ;-)

Tbh i think that the anti tuning box is a little bit alarmist. I fully understood what they were doing. i have had a Dtuk box on my current car, since amost from new and its done near on 80k without any issues. My wife's previous car had the same engine, albeit in a seat Leon, and that was remapped by flashing the ECU. The Leon was definitely a quicker car but mine being a lease car, i wanted to be able to remove the mods for servicing.
