Mine were replaced on my V60 at 20,000 miles and 18 months. Dealer had to apply pressure on Volvo UK but they covered the entire cost.

I also think they had a faulty batch, as I very rarely brake hard to a stop and sit still. They should be able to tolerate reasonable driving.

An engineer with a lot of foundry experience said that even if nuked by heavy braking the discs shouldn't warp; and that it was almost certainly a problem during the casting. This makes sense given the number of people who've had them replaced at low mileages.

If yours are still doing it with a different batch of discs, the fault is probably with a Caliper.

I have a slight wobble on mine slowing through 50mph. Trying to decide if I can be bothered arguing with Volvo to replace for free.

Might get voc over at some point when we're out of lockdown.

Well I was a bit cynical, but decided to give it a try.

The o/h's V60 (non-SPA version) has been getting progressively worse judder from about 60mph down to about 30mph. So on the way to work the other day I took the A-road, rather than the motorway (and it is a lovely straight A-road, with sooo little traffic). Did a full bore stop from circa 70mph (indicated) to about 15mph then accelerated again and repeated about half a dozen times. Eventually stopped doing these stops as the brakes started to smell..... Then a nice run of about 8 miles further on to work with hardly using the brakes and plenty of cool morning air to cool them down again. You know what, they are definitely better. Not quite perfect but definitely loads better with far far less judder. So a good cleaning as above does seem to work for brake judder. You learn something every day.

Default Rotors shot at 15K miles

This seems to be a common problem amongst XC90 owners that the brake rotors are warping and needing to be replaced at around 15K miles. I am now experiencing the same issue. We bought our 2016 XC90 T6 Momentum as a CPO from the Volvo dealership. We also bought the extended warranty package. At around 12K miles, I started to notice a weird humming and thumping noise whenever braking at high speeds (coming down an exit ramp off the interstate/highway). As this continued over the next 3K miles, I finally decided to take it into the dealership to see what the issue is. They told me it was normal "wear and tear" and that these needed to be replaced and the warranty did not cover it. OK, who here has ever had any car that needed rotor replacement at less than 15K miles on them? This is outrageous and clearly the hallmark of a seriously deficient choice in parts. My Jeep Wrangler Unlimited didn't need new rotors until 60K miles, and even then, they didn't warp and cause the vehicle to vibrate and make a horrible sound. I am reading in several of these forums that some dealers just automatically replace the rotors for free. Others have had to go to Volvo corporate in order to get replacement. Well, I've just gotten told "Sorry" by both. So it is Volvo's opinion that people who buy their CPO cars with an extended warranty should have to pony up $1K every 12-16 months for new brakes, apparently??? Ridiculous.

15,000 miles / 5 years old and living near the coast in a warm climate. Salt corrosion perhaps?

It is ridiculous , so what's going on ?

genuine volvo discs ?
All 5 nuts ( Including the locking nut ) done up to 140 nm ?
Pistons in callipers seized ?
hub face which the disc bolts to rusty lumpy ?
What were the run out figures ? ( warp )
This is not a common problem ...
