My Key Fob, aka Sports Key, aka Button-less Key, and aka Key Tag stopped working just under 1.5 years of usage with approx. 6k-7k of annual mileage. Initially thought the battery might have run out although I was expecting it to last for 2.5-3 years before the battery went flat. I reported it to the dealer and the dealer agreed that it should have lasted approx. 3 years. They said at that time of reporting that if the issue that I reported is confirmed by them then they will replace it with a new one for free under warranty. They had the car booked in and ran the diagnostics, which confirmed the fob being a faulty one rather than due to battery going flat. However, they said this won’t be covered under warranty as it is faulty and was asked to fork our £130 for a new replacement, which sounded like ridiculously utter nonsense as I felt warranty is there to cover faulty goods rather than to cover natural wear and tear, for example a key fob with a non-replaceable battery that has gone flat i.e. if that were the case in my case but that isn’t the case. Only after standing my ground firmly they replaced it for free.
