Cancel what I said previously about not being able to see hud if you’re tall. I found the way to push it right down so I can just about see it. So HUD wins for me.

A good guide for determining if you need a heated screen.
How many days a year do you get delayed by waiting for the screen to defrost using the screen hot air blast.

If less than 20 then get a HUD.

Or if you have had a car with HUD before, barely looked at it and preferred the dash info then go heated screen....

I had it in an Audi and a BMW - the BMW was better but after 35 years of driving I still checked the dash (I guess because I also drove another car that didnt have HUD too)..... so for me HUD was nice but I wouldnt pay for it. Now the heated screen on my Fiesta, even if only 4 days a year when rushing for a train, that was HEAVEN!

Had a heated windscreen for last 20 years, I live high on a hill with cold winters. They are a god send, very quick to defrost, a real safety feature. I tried HUD on a few test cars and I judged I'd benefit more from the heated screen - all down to personal preference. I did find it difficult to get a used vehicle with heated screen as the standard default seems to be HUD on configurator when buying new. Ideal if you could have both but obviously not possible!

My wife’s Mazda has a HUD, my XC90 has heated screen. Was driving the Mazda over the w/e in bright sunshine and although the brightness of the HUD was at the max level, I struggled to see it due to the sun. How is the Volvo HUD effected by sunlight pls?

It’s been working fine for me even in the bright sunlight...

But must add my car is garaged.

So my new XC60 will definitely have HUD as the no-cost alternative.
Indeed , a heated front screen is just a marketing tool for volvo as some of the competition has it ... The standard heater/defroster is already very capable of defrosting the glass , and already has a built in electric heating element since 2005 for the air coming from the demister vents and a copious volume of air flows through there.

Smile Heated for me

Deliberated over which to get, but the display in centre console is good enough so went for heated pack. I’m sure I’ll be grateful of this in winter.

Test drove with HUD and did like it, but wasn’t too fussed.

I've got the heated screen and I don't like it. In some weather conditions the heating element is very obvious to the point of being distracting. (varifocal glasses and a recent in depth eye check recently)
