Default fuse is impossible to extract and replace.

HI, I blew a fuse after inadvertently putting a 18 watt bulb instead of 10 watt bulb into the boot light socket ! This has affected my interior lamp.

Well, I go to the fuse box under the bonnet and identify the fuse with goes under the name of int. lamp but find the fuse is impossible to extract and replace.
It wont pluck out and is within a nest of two other blade fuses within a yellow square plastic frame with a black cutaway section which looks like it could help in withdraw of the frame exposing the protected fuse for the plucking and replacing.

These fuses are 20 years old so I am reluctant to use much force.

Any help or suggestions on the extraction of this blade fuse would be really gratefully received.
Many thanks

Just use some thin long nose pliers and pull it. It will come out

If in doubt give it a spray with WD40 with one of those little red tubes.

You might try one of those little gripper tools that are inside the fuse box unless someone has already borrowed it!

yes, I have used pliers and tweezers with as much force as I dare but to no avail.
The seems to be held in place from above with the yellow surround box. The whole top of the fuse is not exposed the are partially covered at the ends by the yellow surround box.

I feel the whole box can be unplugged.
They are not the usual fully exposed fuse.

would the WD40 interfere with the electrics?

I will try and post a clear photo tomorrow when there is some light.
thanks

You need to pull up the yellow fuse box by hand to release the small fuses. Once the yellow box is released the fuse can be pulled out in the normal manner. Replacement is the reverse - put fuse in and then push the yellow box back down. Make sure you have your radio code as you will lose that when the yellow box is pulled up.

I have tried very firmly lifting the yellow box away from the board but to no avail.
I feel there there is something else required as well as a firm pull. The black panels on the side look as if they are involved.

Many thanks for all the help

My description of how the fuse comes out is taken straight from the owners handbook. If an operation is described in that it is generally idiot proof.

One of your fuses is missing: how was it removed as I suspect the yellow box may be damaged in some way when that was removed.
