Default Fully Synthetic - Fuchs/Gulf 10w40 anyone using it?

Just thought I'd ask if any owners here are using Fuchs Titan Race Pro 10w40 https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-89823-f...ngine-oil.aspx or Gulf Competition https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60120-g...ngine-oil.aspx in their T5/R?

If so, what are your experiences with it?

No experience of them, but, they are pedigree oils of a high calibre, you cant really go wrong using them as they are 'ultimate' oils. Just dont try using long oci's, 8-10k max, as some esters are hygroscopic to a degree and absorb moisture over time, one of the reasons manufacturers dont condone them. They are intended for a short but extreme life. A3/B4 classification technically means they can fulfill the specified oci but it isnt advised unless the oci is short.

I've always used Valvoline/Motul to date and really like them. 1 C70 and the S70R are now due a service, whilst on OPIE I came across the above 2 and if, they really are that good and suitable I'd happily try them.

Yes they are very good, if you like the Motul and Valvoline you will also like the Gulf and Fuchs. Both are ester synthetics.

We recommend changing at around 10-12,000 miles or once a year, what ever comes first.

Cheers,

Guy

@ OPIE

I see the Gulf has the relevant ACEA A3/B4 specification as per the owners manual. So that's a safe bet.

The Fuchs only states : API SL, SJ & SH - would this be suitable for the 2000 Volvo C70 2.3 T5 240bhp engine?
