Default Awesome 264 Limos!!!!!

Just spotted three, Yes three! stretched 264 limos on eBay. They look to be in great condition too, they apparently belonged to the Swedish embassy. Hope they are saved!!

You could have made slightly easier for peeps by dropping in a link.

Yeah I know I'm just being lazy but I'll have to go and do a search to see.

WOW - very desirable but not for me unfortunately being autos and 2.7 litres.

I hope they are bought by someone(s) off the forum though as I would love to see photos of them during, and following, an enthusiasts treatment.

How is it that great cars like these can be laid up for so long when there are people on here that would love them to bits for regular use?

DROOL DROOL.

I remember the 264 TEs from when they were new as I occasionally used to get a ride to school in a pale metallic blue one in 1978 when my father worked for Volvo Concessionaires Ltd.

These were awesome cars in their day, and very luxurious. In 1978 it was a real boon to have air conditioning. Leather wasn't really as popular then and 'plush' seemed to be the way to go for luxury upholstery; and that interior was very nice. Small touches like padded headrests and headrests and an arm rest for the rear seats were real marks of luxury. It's interesting how times have changed and how cars of today have things like central locking, power steering, electric mirrors, electric windows and a/c as standard fit.

I always thought it was a pity the second row of seats faced forward. I guess the mpg would be particularly bad with that engine and the additional body weight.

It seems quite a collection of limos as well as P1800s is for sale and they all seem to have Volvo Owners Club badges on the grills so clearly the owner was an enthusiast and a VOC member. Does anyone remember these cars?

I hope someone here buys them and gets them back on the road!

Regards
Lucien.

Indeed great cars
Hope someone will buy and restore them (not break for parts)!
@Lucien: that's the result of progress.
What limos had those days (some of the extras back then) now is almost a normal feature.
BUT, there's always a BUT, the class and style of these classics is their own ONLY.
New cars, don't and won't have that "thing" some call, personality.
If I had the funds to restore at least one of them, I'd had done it right away.

I am amazed at how such treasures can sit unused for so many years.Thank you for bringing them to my attention I shall be watching these with great interest.I have always wanted one and if they don't reach silly money then may well buy one.Maybe the blue one as it hasn't had a bid yet? It has done a few more miles than the other too but still very low.

The silver one with most bids may well be bought for it's number plate? AUWIT.

Although it has the lowest mileage.

The second silver one has a very apt registration number THM264S.

Thankyou so very much Brian.

These three must have been supplied from the same production run - all of the interior shots are of the same car!!
