Default Comet alloys

Hi there!

I notice you're after a set of Comets. I have a full set of 4 that were on my V70R AWD from new. It's on17" Pegasus replica alloys now which, although I'm never convinced about the strength of non-genuine wheels, I quite like, and I've just put 4 new tyres on them!

The Comets need a refurb, they've never been done before so still have the almost dull chrome paint on them which seems to be rare, They only did about 80,000 miles on the car from new. There's a small localised piece of kerbing damage on the rim of one wheel but other than that they're really just in need of paint/powder coating.

I'm still a bit undecided about selling them, refurbing them and putting them on the car, or keeping them as spares. If you're interested I can get you some photos of them and if you want to make me an offer the worst I can do is say no!

They all have tyres fitted but I don't think I'd use any of them, they've been in storage for quite a few years, so best to assume they don't have tyres! Courier is available too, if needed.

Stephen

Hi Stephen, thanks for your response, much appreciated. I actually picked up a set from ebay earlier in the week. Pity actually as I'd have preferred to buy them from you - a forum member!

One favour you could do for me please. What size of tyres are on your Comet alloys? Mine came with no tyres so want to double check before heading out to buy 4 new boots ☺

Again, thanks for your response, Gerry

I'm pretty certain they're 215/45/17s, I'll check when I'm next in the shed!

It's worth double checking the width of the Comets you have, the C70s which had them had slightly wider ones fitted, which will affect the optimum tyre size.

C70s were (I think) 7.5J and take a 225 width tyre
S/V70s were 7J and take a 215 or 205 width

Open to sensible offers, ideally I'd keep them as with the state of the roads around here, having a spare set of wheels can come in very useful...
