Angry 99/2004 headlight washers

hi i have just bought a s40 2004 for my wife i have noticed that when we fill the washer bottle water leaks from both headlight wiper jets all the time can anyone give a reason for this and what to do to cure it thanks.

That sounds like a check valve.

Lift the bonnet and look down behind the back edge of the bumper - where the bonnet closes down - at the left hand side close to the vertical panel by the left hand headlamp, but on the radiator side. You should see the washer tubing and a T junction in the tubing. There is a little T piece with a round centre to it. This is the check valve. Replacements are pennies off ebay or pounds from Volvo, it makes no difference which you go for. Fitting is simply pull the tubes off the old valve and push on the new one.
