Outside of the service offers, servicing always used to work out at £350 to the first service, then £500 for the second, £350 for the third, then independent / new car.

Didn't seem to matter which dealer, the three around here always quoted roughly the same, so I went where there service people seemed the best. Or the coffee.

Oil should be included in the service contract, it is here, unless you are paying a lot less than the equivalent of £500 for a 5 year service contract, and now there are no dipsticks you cant even tell if its actually been changed by checking for clean oil on dipstick.
I worry about this as I only do about 5,000 miles a year and the service is 18,000 miles or one year, always wonder if they bother doing it, even though you pay for it.

Service costs in London will always be higher than rest of UK. But remember, a dealer service includes 12 months breakdown cover (and it is a top notch cover) which would probably be £150 (ish) if bought separate. Therefore, £185 (again ish) for a premium car service isn't too bad???

The breakdown cover was something I forgot to ask about at the time. Can anyone confirm that the £500 deal I went for (Volvo not dealer) includes it.

Not 100% sure, but if it's a Volvo service deal , I would say yes.

Yes breakdown cover is included with every service you get from Volvo. This includes the 3 and 5 year plans. I have had these service plans with my last 3 cars and this one.

10 years service is free here, it isn't a paying maintenance contract. Almost all other premium brands granted it, BMW,Mercedes, etc.
Let's hope they actually change oil....

You would not mind paying for the oil in that case. 10 years free servicing is a great thing. (As long as it is changed)
