Default Past the MOT :o but needs a steering rack :'(

My hard work has paid off, it passed but with advisories

1 tyre is 2005
fluid leak, i knew about that, that's from the rack
the steering rack has a knock
and lost an exhaust bracket, its not an issue though he said

No mention of the wishbones lol

So now i need to figure out which version of the rack i have and look for a recon etc :/

Congrats on the pass, give these people a try for the rack :

https://steering-racks.co.uk/

They probably offer an exchange unit which might be the easiest (if not the cheapest) way of doing things.

It's a good moment to replace an anti-roll bar while there if the bushes are worn and maybe a rear engine mount

Thanks, i did the rear engine mount myself a few months ago, when i get the wishbones done, the anti-rolls will be done at the same time, gonna get them to do the rack 1st, even though its lasted since the last MOT, there was mention about the leak on that one too, what i can say with hand on heart is this, the Lucas steering rack leak stop most certainly did not work, for me anyway, im on the 4th bottle

That's a big leak indeed, no choice. If you did the rear mount, is not much more work involved, assuming you have a warm place to work on. The difficult part would be lines at the rack, could be stuck and weird nut size (I think 16mm), new ones may be hard to align to start them. The rack bolts are usually fine. There are hoses on the right side that need be watched and the exhaust is in the way https://youtu.be/qu9tMds0zOo

That's different indeed. Careful choosing the mount brand, I believe Hutchinson makes them for Volvo. I would be hesitant with Corteco or Lemforder, especially given the difficult replacement
