You've done a wonderful job. Patience and perseverance, plus being fortunate enough, the fortune part of that word is the reason for my choice of it, to be able to afford to do the job properly means you probably have the finest PV in all of Mexico. Well done, it looks great.

You are absolutely right Derek about the fortunate part, I am very conscious of it and I don’t take it for granted. I will be 76 next month, fortunately in excellent health, I worked very hard all my life until last March when the pandemic put a screeching halt to it, my children and my wife are all independent professionals, so this project kept me busy, gave me purpose and allowed me to know in detail and enjoy a car model that I love.

Today I took it for a 30 miles test drive on the highway, no vibrations and could get 80 mph (at 8500 feet altitude).
Slowly remembering what it was driving when the world was young and green!
Thank you all for the advice and tips provided during the restoration
Cheers
Beautiful car, well done sir, a credit to you. David.

Thank you for run down on your renovation, I am sure you will have many happy days driving it. I was hoping you might supply me with some dimensions off your 544. My first PV was bought as a total loss after being involved in an accident, after rebuilding it I rallied it for a year, but always regretted selling it. This car was American spec and had the tubular additions above front and rear bumpers ( coat hangers!) I have purchased some of these bumpers for my present renovation project but would like from you the exact position, dimensionally of the cut outs in the wings that the extra tube supports pass through. Hoping you can help me out. Thanks.

The center of the hole is at exactly 2 cm from the inner edge of the wing, and the bottom of the hole is exactly 5 inches from the bottom edge of the wing, placing the measuring tape following the curved contour of the wing. Hope this is clear

Thank you Adarvasi that is very helpful. Presume these measurements are for the front bumper. Is it the same set of figures for the rear bumper? Many thanks. Ian.

The rear bumper is different, the bar is not attached to the frame

Thanks for the info on bumpers and great photos. One day I will get to grips with posting pics on this site and show some of my attempts at renovation. May you have many enjoyable 544 trips.
