Radweld - why you should never use it!
Some of you may recall my various posts regarding the total lack of heat in my '95 T-5R. To recap, since buying the car in September 14, I've had no heat whatsoever. Along the way, I've replaced the heating matrix (was leaking), the radiator (also leaking), the water pump (was doing the timing belt anyway & the thermostat. But still, there was no heat whatsoever!
Anyway, after replacing all the hardware and still not having any heat, it was time to strip the every part of pipework from the engine...................and here's what I found! Given the matrix & radiator leak, it appears someone has poured a bottle or two of Radweld. I'm pleased to say now have a piping hot heater. In my opinion, this is clear evidence why Radweld shouldn't be used. |

I take your point, but this may not be Radweld. Radweld is a liquid that needs air to solidify. If there was liquid in the coolant system, how could this be? I think this is something else.
Anyway, you must be pleased and warmed, to have a) fixed the original issues the the best way and b) fixed the lash up that blocked your heater pipe. |

You are quite right ^^^^^ i have used Radweld in my older motors when a young lad and it has saved me a lot of money plugging leaks.
Radweld is designed to circulate in the system and when it finds a hole to leak from it will solidify and block the hole until then it will continue to do it`s work circulating with the coolant.

That was my thought too - even worse than Radweld!
