Anyone own one of these?
Having a look round at code readers for my 1998 V70 which is OBD11 Compliant, so should work with this. Its expensive but seems to do everything on the car that needs a code reader.

You can get much cheaper diagnostic readers on eBay than that one. I would look there.

If you own a laptop, why not try the Alex Peper diagnostic software? It can reset the Volvo Service light. It's a bit fiddly to set the software up, but when you get it going, it opens up a wealth of info. If your car is OBD2 compliant, it would make it worthwhile.

I use an OBDKey device which uses Bluetooth to send the data to my PDA/ mobile phone, it offers data logging and can reset whats needed on my 2000 V70 Classic - Worth looking at, and they do make a cabled version but I don't like wires in the car if they can be avoided see www.obdkey.com - Mike

Kevinbis,My V70 is OBD11 Compliant thats a standard and as the scan tool is OBD11 it should work,I would of course ask the question if i where to buy one,its a lot of dough to fork out and be wrong.

Hi kevinbis I have a Windows XP laptop and am computer literate so I bought a cheap scanner through ebay. I think I had to buy the cable separately from Germany. I found that it cannot talk to my 1999 V70 (which has an OBDII socket between the front seats). So I bought the item that you mention from TalkToMy Car. Same problem, it is not able to communicate with the bus/device. I keep wondering why not, and thought there might be something wrong with the socket itself, but have repeatedly been assured that the Volvo dealers and Braydon CAN talk to my car using that OBDII socket. So as you say "It says its for 2001 - 2007 volvo's So does not cover phase 1 V70 " Hope that helps. Steve

By the way Steve did you buy one that did work?
