Park Assist pilot
I'm just getting used to my new car so forgive the stupid questions.
I tried out the park assist pilot for the first time today and found it left me about 4' from the curb. The car in front of me was about the same distance away so I am wondering if it uses the car in front to gauge where to park. The van behind was near the curb.

Having now had my car for 2 months I can honestly say I never use it. I find it way to slow and unless you are on a road with no other road users it can be frustrating. With the front + back park assist PLUS the camera who needs it IMO.

you could look at another way , it is very clever to be able to line the car up with teh one behind/in front :-) You can still over ride it by turning the wheel as you are more intelligent .. so you could say it does most of the tricky work for bearing in mind the view out of the rear of a V40 is diabolical .Funnily enough the ones with teh glass roof give youa much better sense of where the car actualy is when parking although you still cant see the edges .

How did we manage to park before these great gadgets... Hmmm.
Don't deny the system works but don't think it is worth it. If needs be a set a parking sensors and off you go (although again how did folk manage before the parking sensor came along!!!). If you can't park your car then you shouldn't be on the road.

I made my comment about the system, because my wife is not particularly good at parking, so anyone with park pilot or other self parking cars, would end up matching her parking...lol..!! Whilst not the best parker, my wife is indeed an excellent and considerate driver in all other respects (so long as she is going forward...!!!) Regards |
