Surprised Powerful UK haven't responded though, not my experience with them. Bear in mind ebay is sometimes slow to pass messages on so to be fair, give them a day or two to respond before giving them negative feedback.
I'll check again tonight when it's dark. I emailed them direct.

Outward appearance identical to mine although i notice they now have the dipped beam arranged to stay on with full beam. Nothing illegal about that, many cars are wired that way from the factory.
I am however wondering if the dim-dip is causing a back-feed which makes them go to full brightness on dim-dip.

They are the same as mine and as said mine too are on all the time but the MOT Tester confirmed they are road legal. Nobody has flashed me for blinding them in the last few weeks since they were fitted and I am on the road a lot every night on my way home from work. I will post photos taken in the light of how my garage wired them in as soon as I am able.

As promised, one video of how my lights operate. Went through all the options including full beam and fogs but started sidelights only, started the caengine to give dim-dip then dipped beam proper, full beam, back to dim-dip, flashed the lights then back onto dipped beam then had a play with the front fogs and main beam.

https://youtu.be/OnXQm5jOmRU

Because it's a hill where i parked, i took a couple of pics, one on dipped beam and one on full after i pulled out of the car park.

Full beam ^^^^^ - those road signs are about 1/4 mile away.

Dipped beam ^^^^^ Note the kick-up on the beam picks out the road signs still but the cut-off in terms of height is below that level.

Just for fun, i took a pic of the reversing camera screen when i got home :

No reverse lights (just a streetlamp) ^^^^^

With LED reverse lamps ^^^^^

Feel a bit "light-headed now! I'll get my coat!

This is a reply from the seller.

Hi Martin,

I have spoken to one of my technicians and they have suggested that the Volvo's are fitting with a dim dipp feature, which is a half powered side light.

As LED's don't have a half power function, they will power on fully. Here is an interesting read from one of the volvo forums about this: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/archi.../t-201885.html

Sadly we are unsure on how to fix this as we do not specialise in Volvo's or have experience with them.

I'll look into this.

My celebration had faulty dim-dip, There was no relay behind the switch, I had issues with the dim dip relay causing my HID lights not to switch off.

Look at the fuse box, It is one of the small blue relays on the right hand side I think, pulling one and removed it solved my problem. Headlights worked fine after, on both halogen and HID.

Could this be a fix>?

I will have to try,

Pulling the dim-dip relay should fix it Martin, i was going to suggest it but wanted to see what Powerful UK said first. Pretty generic, non-technical, non-committal answer to be honest but in fairness, probably about all they could say.

If yours are much brighter on dim-dip than mine are (see the video a few posts up) then you can either pull the dim-dip relay and see if that fixes it.
