Default S60 Remove Front Bumper Guide (with photos)

I replaced the bumper on my 2003 S60 last week - I took some photos of the process, I hope they help.

1) Remove headlight windscreen wipers (8mm Socket)

There is a black plastic cap covering the bolt that secures the washer arm. Pull back the cap to reveal the 8mm bolt. Remove bolt. As the picture illustrates, I had to use to a special tool to pull the wiper arm off its rod.

Ensure you remove the rubber pipe that sends fluid to the wipers.

2) Remove black trim on the bumper

Once removed, the front of your car should look like this:

3) Remove the the two 12m nuts securing the bumper to the car, under the trim you have just removed.

I used a long arm 12m socket.

4) Remove the plastic rivets securing the top of the bumper to the front of the engine: I knocked each rivet straight through, although I had some spare to put on when the bumper was re attached.

Rivets removed:

5) Unsrew the torx 25 screw under the wheel arches until you have just a few threads left holding it on then push the whole screw in, (this pushes the catch holding the bumper cover) which releases the rear edge.

WARNING. Do not completely unscrew the torx screw. If you do this, the bracket it screws into might drop to the ground (it did in my case) and you won't be able to secure the bumper without it.

6) Detach the fog light wires. You can reach up and squeeze the securing clip together and the power wires should just clip out. This picture shows the wires already detached, but gives you a good idea as to where the power wires plug in on the unit.

7) Slide the bumper towards you. If all the above steps have been followed the bumper should just pull off. You will be left with this:

Reverse the steps to attach the bumper.
