Has anybody had the front 180 degree camera fitted to their XC60 yet?

If so, any good? and how much did you pay?

I've made enquiries , but although the price is published by Volvo on their price list as a dealer fitted option, including the cost of fitting, the dealers I've spoken to don't know what to charge. When they work out a figure , it's considerably more than the price list.

Cheers

Surely it has a part number and you just order it (which includes the fitting), book in turn up, pay the stated amount and job done???

Can't see why there is any issue? I'd try elsewhere and see what other dealers say? If it is advertised including fitting and now a dealer wants more then get in touch with Volvo Uk and see what they say about it. I'm sure the dealer will soon be fitting the kit at the advertised price then.

You would think it was that easy wouldn't you, but when my dealer got all the parts required on the computer the parts alone came to more than Volvos price.

Not sure if I'm missing the point here, but what is the function of a forward looking 180deg camera?

Unless it has some sort of night vision capability, which I imagine would appeal to the doggers....

It's for poking your nose out of junctions when your view is blocked by parked cars, hedges etc

I have installed and it was a dealer fitted only option and cost me $700.00USD. It is pretty good I use it mostly for exiting indoor car parks when crossing pavements.

Default Front View Camera Installed

Within a few weeks of my new car arriving I found I was having problem pulling safely out of my drive. Some of the trees that form part of the front hedge are planted too close to the pavement so even witha hard trimming I was still struggling to see other vehicles. The solution was to fit a front view camera which luckily is an Accessory rather than Option with the XC60 and therefore could be done by my local dealer. The total cost was £395.

The first image is the position the car had to be in to be able to see down the road before the camera was fitted.

The next image shows the camera displayed on the front screen. As you see it’s a split view simultaneously showing the view in both directions.

The last image is the position of the car at the time the second image was taken.

Quite impressive.

A very good comprehensive post, thanks.

That should stop you from causing distress to passing motorbikes now!

I must get around to getting one fitted.
