2005 V70 Central locking Problem

Hello there,

I was checking the fuses in the cargo area fuse box, in search of another problem and since removing each fuse to check it I have found that my Central Locking no longer works, either with the remote or the key. Sometimes it will lock and unlock both front doors but never the rears, the N/S rear door makes a clicking nose from the actuator until the drivers door is closed. I can manually lock and unlock the doors but the tailgate has been locked since I checked the fuses, so won't open at all.
I suspect/hope this will need recoding, or other software update.....
Has anyone else experienced this and what is the solution?
I live on the west side of York if anyone can recommend a helpful garage?

I don,t know if it is the same problem,but on my 2002 v70 occasionally,if the battery went flat or low there was constant clicking from the actuator in the door,only way to stop it was well aimed fist knock around the door lock area on the outside .I eventually replaced the whole module with one from 2002 S80 and it worked fine ever since,straight swap,no reprogamming or anything needed.

Thanks for your response, this occurred just before I went on holiday, so apologies for the late reply.
In the end I took it to my local dealer, who charged me £260 for 2 hours diagnostics and said it was the rear module not connecting with the rest of the canbus system, they quoted over a thousand pounds to repair it.
Obviously, with the age and value of the car I'm not going to do that, plus I don't think that is the entire story.
I have bought a Central Locking Control kit from Amazon for £15.00 and am going to try and bypass the factory system.
The car still drives perfectly, despite having over 260,000 miles on it and so I'm going to keep it as long as I can!

I think you likely need some sort of access to Vida.

I suppose you could have electrically "spiked" something by removing and installing fuses, perhaps with the battery connected ?

Something may need a reset.

This will cost nothing, try disconnecting the battery overnight.

Use the correct procedure for disconnection and reconnection.

Thanks Lancee, that is my thinking, just a careless mistake in checking the fuses. However there were some codes appearing on my Snap-On scanner the last few times I checked it, saying lack of communication etc, but the central locking was fine. I tried disconnecting the battery and re-connected properly, but no success.
Like I said, the main dealer checked it over and so it's had a full diagnostic. At the moment central locking system is a length of 2x1 to push the back door buttons down, so it's still useable.
