Changing dampers on a 98 S40

Well it looks like I've finally found the best forum to cover my 1998 S40 2.0T. 148500km on the clock, and it's time for new dampers, at all four corners.

The old dampers are the "comfort" ones; does anyone know if I can put in the "sport" ones without changing springs and a whole swag of other parts?

I've previously changed rear dampers on my XC, so I'm up for a DIY on this S40 job.
