sludge at the bottom, guess the fluid has never been changed.

Fitted the new one and connected up the two brake pipes, the clutch pipe and the electrical connector, then jacked up the car and removed its wheels, started bleeding the R/H rear caliper and really dirty fluid came out, pumped loads of fluid through until it was clean and no bubbles comming out. Did the same with the other three calipers. Brake pedal is now very solid.

Whilst it was up in the air I changed the oil and filter and fitted a new fuel filter, again I think the fuel filter had never been changed for years it was so rusty on the outside.

Put the car all back together and test drive it only to find that the pedal still sinks when the engine is running, gutted to say the least.
Done lots of searches since on this site and it could be either air still in the system, which I doupt as the pedal is very solid without the motor running or the ABS pump/modulator as in this thread ;-http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=60686

Any other ideas on this?
Had these problems in both my 04 and my dads 04 plate diesel. Changed everything (granted I had used master cylinders but knew they were good) and what fixed it was replacing the brake hoses. He had rubber ones I upgraded to steel ones.

Worked out mpg post-MAF change, not significantly different. But the car now drives as it should and wants to go faster! It's never done that since I had it...

Getting clutch squawk almost every time I move off now. I think I was probably naive in thinking it would last cconsidering the miles I'm doing.

I've done 50,000 miles over 3 years with clutch squawk and a whining gearbox. Still no issues other than noise....

Does yours slip when cold? Mine does once or twice, when it's warmed up its ok.

Replaced the MAF £96+vat from eurocarparts (should've haggled). Its less than that on the website!
It came in box with Renault group genuine parts written on it although its made by Siemens. Exactly the same visually.

Got 5 litres of Helix Ultra 5w 40 for £17.99+vat but they tried to charge me £24.99 plus vat when its £24.99 retail at the moment!

Sounds like you need to talk to the right person at eurocarparts! Get the wrong one and they rip you off all day long!

Also found a slow puncture and took it to be repaired. Damn farmers and their hedge trimming!

The how to is here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=85607

I did find it easier for the A/C controls to remove the radio housing.

You need T4 neo wedge LED's for them both. You should use T4 tall neo wedge for the A/C, but i found the ones i used in the headlight / dimmer controls were fine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10pcs-T4-N.../191528702617?

Well my car recently had a shock and top mount replaced and went back in today for the same on the other side!

All done I took the car back to work at lunch .

When leaving at 5 I noticed the T4 decided to dump a load of oil.

Took it back to the local who are going to look and fix over the weekend .

Very annoying as I was going to see Alex tomorrow to fit the cruise and meet Lee at the same time too.

Grrrrr

Still no oil light so hopefully the car is unscathed .
