Default 2016 XC60 Big Enough for Family week away?

Hello

I am looking to buy a 2016 XC60

I will soon be a family of 4 and therefore unable to fold rear seats down when loading to go away for a week

What are people’s experiences with the XC60 and basically just having the boot when going away for a week in the UK? - Enough room for a family of 4 to go camping etc?
I have never been a fan of roof boxes as like to keep everything in the car (except Bikes which will go on a tow bar mount

Any feedback would be great

Thanks

You could try and hire one for a week. Might be worth the 'cost' before making either the right decision or making an expensive mistake. The other consideration is how well you can impose volumetric control. Some might say the luggage will fit the available space. Buy a Skoda Superb Estate (very capacious) and your family might still fill it !

We had a week in Wales a year or two back and the size of our cases plus self catering stuff for a week plus dog just didn’t lent itself to more than two adults in just the front, luckily our son decided to meet us there in his car!

The honest answer is no, unfortunately.
As much as I love mine and having come from a Skoda Superb, it just isn't big enough on storage for 4 people with luggage, without a roof box.

All depends on how much and how well you pack it... the XC60 has a fair sized boot, easy to compare the size with other models. XC90 is vast....

When I was growing up we had a Hillman Imp and then a VW Beetle, and we were a family of 5 and went on 2 weeks holidays every year !!
So, yes I would think 4 of you could manage in an XC60

I would say definitely no. My self and my wife regularly go for weeks away in holiday cottages. We fold our XC flat and basically fill it withall the things we enjoy ,plus a all in one pc, music stuff etc etc. no way could we fit two kids as well. When our two were at home we had Toyota previa's Chrysler voyagers etc.Not sexy but very practical.

2 adults, 2 kids. Can just about get a week of camping but its tight (we take everything). Bikes on a tow-bar rack.

Invested in a roof box and now life is so much easier! France every year (Eurocamp) and the boot was pretty much empty this time out other than an overnight bag and personal bags - all clothes etc in roof box so have a think.. I wouldn't be without one!

The amount of extra stuff we got in going for 2 weeks to the south of France and that was in a Volvo v50 !

With the Volvo luggage guard fitted, you can pack a lot in, piling it high, especially if you use soft luggage such as large holdalls. This does of course limit rear view vision.

We used to have a 7-seater Renault Laguna estate which would accommodate two kids on the extra seats 5/6, luggage on the rear seats, and two big dogs safely and comfortably ensconced, behind the extra seats. That was a much smaller car.

Another great feature of another Laguna estate was the ability to open the rear window when the tailgate was closed. That allowed lots of stuff to be stuffed in to the wasted spaces left by suitcases etc.
