Default universal central locking

The volvo guard is long gone and im getting lazy in my old age. is there any wires relating to the guard system i can tap in to with one of those universal remote locking kits that will work?

i dont fancy pulling doors to bits to fit solenoids if the whole system is 99% already there and splicing some wires will do perfectly!

Did exactly this on our S70 several years ago. Bought new set up from Hawk. It came with model-specific instructions, spliced into the existing wiring, took less than two hours to fit, and has worked a dream ever since.

If I remember correctly they are somewhere in the London area, and the kit cost no more than £30. They asked me for details of the car and then supplied a wiring diagram tailored to the car.

It all came with the black box module, a flashing LED, and two key fobs that really are as good as anything you'd get with a brand new car.

All round excellent.

I second that I fitted the Hawk to my 940 I had to fit one door motor to the drivers door and the switch on the door works the central locking when the button goes down. THe system can also be used to close the leccy windows.

Can you be a bit more specific please? What are the two signal wires for? Are they to flash the indicators or are they locking wires?

Red plug and white socket on what?

What is the problem being caused by this situation?

Yes sorry lock and unlock signal wires coming from new alarm under the driver's side dashboard there is two multiple connections one yellow one white inside of the white multipoint connection there is a blue connection pin with wires and a red connection pin with wires plus some others when I connect the new central locking wires to the Blue pin blue and pink wire I believe and another one will double check anyway central locking will not work but on the white multi plug there is also the red pin with wires coming out of it when I disconnect the red PIN from the white multi plug central locking locks the car immediately and now I can use the Hawk alarm press lock press unlock and it works but I lose all my rear lights on the car major problem if you need pics I can take pics thank you for your reply

It would help to see the circuit diagram to be honest, usually with add-on kits, there are three wires for locking, common, lock and unlock. The common is usually taken to earth (for an earth switched system) and the lock and unlock wires go to the original central locking control relay/unit to replicate the OE switch wiring from the drivers door lock.

Others have just two wires that go the the drivers OE actuator to lock/unlock that way which in turn operates the OE switch for the central locking.

What was the problem in the end and how did you overcome it?

Had a quick look on the 'Hawk' website at: https://www.hawkcaralarm.com/ They are based in Wimbledon, S.London, and have product manuals available to d/load. I assume they may contain all the 'secrets'!! Bob
