Default XC60 2.4 D5 AWD auto jolts when selecting drive

Sometimes the car jolts when selecting drive. It's as if the revs are too high but it is only about 900rpm. Anyone knw what this is?

My daughter’s 2011 XC70 D5 auto. started doing that shortly after she bought it from our main dealer in 2017 with 88,000 recorded miles. Car had a Selekt warranty so dealer did some sort of re education of the Transmission Control Module. That didn’t cure it so they they took the car in to have further checks and cured it. We were told that they had replaced the internal oil seals and to do so had drained the fluid off so it now had new fluid in as well. That is all that they would tell us. No charge as it was initially reported whilst still in Selekt warranty.

Try doing the adaption, it can smooth it out: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showp...54&postcount=2

That same jolt came and went over the 5.5 years we owned our V70. I first reported it a few days into ownership: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=185160

It varied in intensity, and we had the dealer do a sump change of the auto fluid. The jolt tended to show up at times of temperature change (change of seasons, hot fluid after a run, etc), but didn't seem to result in any major change over the time we had the car (from 38k to 84k miles). The person we sold it to did over 40k miles in the first year since he bought it, and i guess didn't have any problem.

Change the transmission fluid & reset the adaptions. The car may also need a software update, which only a dealership can do.

The lower transmission mount can also cause jolting if its worn, so check that too.
